SearchDomino has a lead article on a new report put out by an analyst firm. This firm seems to have issues with IBM in general and Lotus in particular. However, while reading through my other BlogRoll links, I came upon an excellent write-up on this new "report" from Christopher Byrne. The timing was interesting; I first read Chris' article (thinking to myself that there is going to be a firestorm) and then the SearchDomino mail came in. Chris writes a very well thought out and logical argument concerning this report, even citing a respected researcher. This is the kind of writing that I have come to expect from Chris; thoughtful, well researched, and well reasoned (even logical - if you will). The question that I have, that I always have with these "research analysts" has to do with their methodologies. Chris questions the methods and the results of the new study and does it in a very well written way. His thoughts on this should turn up on SportCenter's "Web Gems." Nice work, Chris!
Here is the article from SeachDomino:
RADICATI ON WARPATH AGAIN, NOW WITH WORKPLACE | SearchDomino.com
For the second time in less than a year, The Radicati Group has
published a white paper that will serve as a lightning rod for
controversy in the Lotus community. This time the research firm
claims that most Domino users will not deploy Workplace.

Thanks for pointing out that article, Gregg... I hadn't seen the SearchDomino piece yet, and I didn't know they had quoted my blog.

Is it okay to use a blog entry without first contacting you? Or are these such that they are considered in the public domain?

There are probably legal terms for it and all, but it basically comes down to "fair use". Quoting a part of your post, with attribution, is generally OK. Most of us consider it a good thing to be quoted, as it means people are reading and paying attention...
Now, if someone lifted an entire post and passed it off as their own, we'd have problems...
